It was always quite obvious that 'Yeh Faasley' would be greeted with empty houses on it's release. Zero promotion takes its toll on the best of the films but when something arrives with zero face value (if one leaves aside the presence of a veteran actor like Anupam Kher), the problem only gets aggravated. This is what happened in case of 'Yeh Faasley' as well which came out of nowhere and accordingly disappeared in a jiffy as well.

Not that the film too was one of those cases where one wonders if it really deserved a good promotional backing to it. Though before the release of the film the promos did give an impression of a good drama in the offing, the actual result was far from being enticing. A whodunit which would have better suited a television viewing, it was better off seeing a limited inconsequential release like this. No wonder, even Anupam Kher didn't come out to promote the film on his own and resultantly 'Yeh Faasley', after seeing not even 10% opening for itself, struggled to complete even a weekend at the box office.

One may attribute low collections to the World Cup though but the fact remains that if a film is good, there would be foot falls. Audience may pick and choose the show timing as per their convenience but they would come for sure. Of course the collections would be impacted to some degree at the least but as stated earlier, a good film won't completely loose out it's audience. It may get divided on some days but certainly not get diminished, as evidenced in case of 'Tanu Weds Manu' which is yet another case study of a good film doing well regardless of adverse situation.
